Potential MRSA Case Cancels Classes at Cathedral Catholic
On Friday, March 30, Cathedral Catholic unexpectedly closed its doors after a possible case of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) was detected on campus.
MRSA is a bacterial infection that is highly resistant to antibiotics. The infection can range in severity from a small and localized infection to a larger infection affecting vital organs, which is manifested in symptoms such as a headache, shortness of breath, and red swelling to the specific area of infection.
Over the weekend, the campus is to be thoroughly sanitized as a precaution, according to a message posted on CCHS’s website. All campus events, including sporting games, are canceled and students, teacher, and parents alike are not welcome on campus until classes resume on Monday.
